The Hermes spacecraft was on display at National Instruments Week 2011 in Austin, TX. We were given top billing in the NI Demonstration / Exhibitors hall; the Hermes Spacecraft was the first thing NIWeek attendees saw when they walked into the exhibitor area. The exhibitor area was open on Monday afternoon, starting with a kickoff party from 3:00, throughout Thursday afternoon, closing its doors at 1:00pm.
The Hermes team conducted its first static-fire test of HERO (Hybrid Engine Reused Optimally) on July 23, 2011. The purpose of this lab-scale test was to confirm design and manufacturing methods and gather basic performance data. This lab-scale prototype allows the team to conduct tests in a low cost manner before scaling the rocket to it's full size within the spacecraft. Check out video of this test in our Video section!
Check out the Hermes at the 2008 Intel Developer Forum. Astronaut Story Musgrave was there and had great things to say about us!
We've also thrown in some great workshop photos into this album so you can see a little bit of what it took to built the Hermes.
Recently we took the Hermes Spacecraft out to Falcon Field Air Show on April 2nd, 2011.
Ken Smerz and his guys at Precision 3D Scanning met us out at Falcon Field to create a 3D scan of the Hermes Spacecraft.
